It is that time of year; students are grabbing their caps and gowns and taking the next big step in their life. GLCU has a friend who is doing the same! She might not be graduating from school, but she is having a unique type of graduation of her own.

Myrtle the Turtle, GLCU’s Lake County Forest Preserve friend, has passed the requirements to be released into the wild! She has reached over the vulnerable size of 40 grams and will be now venturing on her own.

The Blanding’s Turtles Recovery Program is making every effort to give the turtles the best chance of surviving in the wild so they can eventually be removed from the endangered species list.

You can see Myrtle being released into the wild on Lake County Forest Preserves Facebook page or visit the Great Lakes Credit Union's Facebook where we shared the live video!
