Report Computer Fraud
To report potential e-scams, please go to the Internet Crime Complaint Center and file a report. Note: the FBI does not send mass emails to private citizens about cyber scams, so if you received an email that claims to be from the FBI Director or other top official, it is most likely a scam.
If you receive unsolicited email offers or spam, you can forward the messages to the Federal Trade Commission at spam at uce dot gov
Phishing Scams
Some GLCU members have reported phishing scams involving a request for personal information from an outside source. These phishing scams are being presented in the following ways:
- Telephone
- Cell Phone
- Text Message
- Internet
- Web Connect
If you believe you have received a request for your personal information that is not legitimate, please do not respond to the requests, click on links, or open attachments. File a report with the Federal Trade Commission and contact GLCU locally at (847) 578-7000 or call toll free at (800) 982-7850.
If you have Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile cell phone service, and you receive Phishing Text Messages, you can forward the messages to SPAM or (7726). These cell phone carriers can investigate the phishing attempts.
